I have no idea what the smoking situation is at the VFW, but speaking as a smoker, I can step outside for a few minutes when needed.

"...but speaking as a smoker,"
Do you have to have a good grill to do this?

OK, sports fans and athletic supporters, the VFW Post 4848 is booked for the Chattanooga Message Forum Christmas Party and Early Winter Shotfest for December 11!
Here are the "rules": Party starts when you get there (6p or so?) and ends at 12M. We need to be out by 1a so I can start cleaning up. Plenty of tables and chairs. Kitchen is available for warming/cooking/refrigerating as wanted. No booze can be brought in (state law). Smoking inside is OK, unless the Forum decides no. Door and restrooms are "accessible". And reasonably clean this time of year. There is an outdoor grill if anyone cares to get there really early and fire it up (wood/charcoal). I've been assured that the bartender can handle our Group efficiently. There is a boat dock if anyone cares to cruise up to the back door. Also a very nice shaded grassy area next door for anyone who would rather camp out in the ice and snow than drive home.
Post 4848 is next to the Boathouse on Riverside Drive.
Gary P has my Top Secret Confidential cell phone number for anyone to call who has any questions.
Look forward to seeing you there!

Sorry about the ambiguity, Bob...There is a well-stocked bar at the VFW, but, because of state law, we are not allowed to bring in our own - "brown-bag", if you will.
I won't mention any names, but I know that certain members of the Forum enjoy some particularly rare tastes, Gary, so I asked if we could bring in a bottle or two of our favorite malts. No can do.
Good question. Thanx.
I hope I made it clear that this can be a non-smoking event, also.

Hey just making sure. [grin] we would never "cheat" and bring booze into a place that will sell us booze. Its those places that say no booze at all that some of us rebel against...

Can we make suggestions so the VFW can stock it?

I think so. Gimme a couple of names and let me see what I can do.

Pic, Could a "Donation" to the bar be made upon arrival of extremely RARE spirit??
Or delivered to you earlier in the day??

As long as they have a lot of Guinness, everything will be OK.

Good question, Joedog. My quick response has to be a "no" only because of the ABC laws.
I am, however, a Rule Interpreter, not a rule breaker. I will ask if you can "donate" a bottle to the VFW, pay for drinks from same, then "buy" the rest of the bottle at the end of the night. A major stretch, but I'll check.

No Guinness, but I'll try to get a case in stock by P-Day.

OMG! There will be hell to pay if you don't!
It's not my fave, I'm a Heineken girl. But others might riot.
