I vaguely remembering seeing a thread about something along this line a while back, but could not find it.
One of our Soldiers (and one of my adopted sons) was home a couple weeks ago on leave and I asked him what was one thing they really wanted over in Iraq. He told me they have a really hard time getting any reading material. I know he likes Science Fiction, so I introduced him to Honor Harrington for his flight back.
We are currently working on collecting donations of items to put in Christmas boxes for the unit and was wondering if anyone knows of any companies around who might be willing to donate some reading materials for our Soldiers. We have 173 in the unit. I'm going to check with Grumpys and McKays tomorrow to see if they might be able to help and we are waiting for an answer from Books A Million, but that may take several weeks. We are packing boxes next Sunday so that the Red Cross can get them shipped. Any answers would be greatly appreciated!!

Well, we've made a little progress on book donations. Unfortunately, can't get Grumpys to answer their phone and when we have been by there, they aren't open. And can't get McKay's to return phone calls, as we've left at least 3 messages. Even tried the library. First they said, yes they could, then they said no their charter didn't allow them to. According to their charter, they can donate to prisons and prisoners, but not to our Soldiers. Go figure!!! I've had some friends give me some books to send to them and I contacted Baen. They are going to send a box of books over there to our unit and were happy to do it.

You know Grumpy's have moved to the old Target building behind Northgate. Don't know if you went to old location or not.

Tookie, thanks so much. The Christmas boxes are gone now, but we are still looking for books to send over there. PM me with your contact information and we can set up some time, probably after the holidays to see what we can do. My schedule is jammed packed from now till the first of the year, between work, home, church, and the unit.
Anyone know a way I can clone myself???

Anyone know a way I can clone myself??? If you could, you would just have a little baby w/ the same DNA as you.
