Let's hear your story. It has always suprised me when a stranger or distant acquaintance gives you an emotional hug. This week my supervisor gave me a note when I was leaving for lunch. Basically it stated that she was sorry for my grief. She was keeping my husband and myself in her prayers. Then she stated that she was one of my friends and to call her anytime I needed her. I cried.
Then today, a total stranger, gave me something. It is something that I will use and saved me money since I don't have to buy it. That person asked nothing. They were just glad to be of help.
Once in awhile, God gives bad apples. But they are to make us stonger and to appreciate the good things of life.
I would just like to thank you two people that brought a smile to my face.

If you're a friend, you have friends. Never know if a total stranger might become a great friend.
I, believe in Karma... and I also believe in "Pay it forward".. So far it works.. (most of the time)
glad you met a couple of people that love, hope we all do from time to time...

There is a woman that I work with. She is a Harley girl and not well liked. I admire her because of the way she treats her daughter. But most of all, I resent the way she is treated by others. So, I give her a ride home when she needs one. I tell her its on my way home. She'll never know. But every time I see her, I see her smile.

I know you folks aren't all gamers, so I won't go into a lot of detail... but I play WoW. (World of Warcraft) Sometimes, the people in the game get so caught up in getting the best 'gear' for their character that they forget it's a game and get down right nasty about things.
Weeks ago, I had told one of my in-game friends that I really don't care about being the biggest and the baddest. I play the game to have fun. All I want to do is to play well enough to pull my own weight in a group. Because of that "I don't stab people in the back and grab everything in sight" attitude, I don't have the best gear. I am therefore not the best fighter and have often been 'mistreated' in "Pick Up Groups" aka Pugs, where you run dungeons and what not with strangers, so I just don't do them... which frequently leaves me be being the least experienced and least knowledgeable player. Starting to see that vicious circle?
About a week ago, this friend invites me to Pug a dungeon. I wimble that I've never done that one and he'll have to lead me through. He was cool with that. He introduces me to the Group Leader who turns out to be one hell of a nice guy! The first thing he says to me is "It's only a game. If we die, we pay virtual money to repair pretend armor. So what?" Through the entire 'incident', the leader kept 'inspecting' my gear. After every battle, he would say "Time to do Poly's armor" and he would enchant another piece of my gear. This costs 'materials' that can be rather expensive in-game items. A pair of good boots 'dropped' and the Group Leader won the roll for them. My other friend spoke up "Those Boots are better for Poly." The Leader comes over and asks "Why didn't you take those?" I said "Because you had just enchanted the boots I'm wearing. Didn't want to be greedy." He answered, "Be Greedy!" and gave me the boots and put the enchantment back on them.
The next day, I sent him a bunch of stuff that I didn't need that he could 'Disenchant' them to hopefully recoup some of the materials he blew on me. I sent some items that my character 'made' as well. He sent me a pile of enchanting mats that were to low level for him to use anymore for my low level enchanter. We've been having a great time chatting and ran a couple more Dungeons together since then. And it all started because a mutual friend put two people together who share a rare quality. We both say "It's just a Game! We're supposed to be having fun!"
To me, the best random act of kindness is to share a friend.

I received an anonymous note from a co-worker many years ago that I still have, and look at about twice a year. Just after our daughter was diagnosed with autism, and I was having a particulary rough day, this note appeared in my mailbox. I have never been able to figure out who left it, but it had to be a co-worker because of how our mail system works, and where the boxes were located at the time. An encouraging word has been a long-lasting gift to me. I am now a firm believer in giving hand-written notes when appropriate and/or necessary.

Mikey, a friend is a person that you like to spend time with and talk to. Sometimes, friends do nice things for each other just because it makes the other person happy. When one person has two friends that don't know each other, but notices that the two share similar interests, he or she introduces those two people to each other so they can all be friends together.

No, I wanna know what "pug a dungeon" is?
"Disenchant' them to hopefully recoup some of the materials he blew on me." WHAT?
I know what friends are, that's the people you are nice to when they are around, and then stab them in the back and talk bad them when they're not around.

Mikey, I have no idea what Scarlett is talking about, but I did pick this up in her post: Pick Up Groups" aka Pugs
The other part I would assume is part of the game. You can enchant items to get more power?? Dude was nice to her, and enchanted some of her items. So later, she sent him some items that she had spare, so he could use them. that is my guess.

LOL! I didn't really think anyone would care enough about game junk to comment on it.
Please Pardon this momentary Thread Jack while I explain this for anyone who actually gives a hoot about it.
Yes, Emanon is correct. A Pug is a Pick Up Group. To "Pug a Dungeon" means that you ask friends or strangers to help you go through a part of the game that you cannot do alone. If you enjoyed working together, you can add that person to your in game Friends List, so that the next time you need help, you can ask if they wish to join you again.
In the game, an Enchanter is a person who uses specialized materials to put an 'enchantment' or 'spell' on your armor or weapons to make them work better. Said materials can be found in the game by 'looting' a defeated enemy or, more commonly, by 'Disenchanting' another item. Disenchanting breaks the item down, destroying it, but creating magical materials that are used to enchant other items. It's a big circle. The more items a player enchants, the more skillful he becomes, which lets him break down higher level items, get better materials and cast better spells on even higher level equipment.
The Group leader from my story is far more skilled at Enchanting than my character with the same 'profession'. (I play three different characters) So I sent him items - Armor and weapons - which were to high for my Enchanter to break down into usable materials. Hopefully, I sent him items that would yield items of similar value to what he used on the equipment I was using, but I doubt it. My main character is a Leather worker, not an Enchanter, so I sent him items that my character made as well.
All of this is virtual and nothing actually exists. Even so, many, many players obsess over acquiring better gear and more 'game gold'. Those people can be total jack asses who get very angry at new people if they don't do everything exactly right. They also tend to take more than their fair share of the 'loot' acquired by the group efforts. I, as a less effective character, do not always feel that I deserve a full share of the loot because I don't think I earn it. Therefore I normally "Pass" when the game requires people to "Roll the Dice" (a random number generator) for the really good, high level or rare items. When I "Passed" on a set of boots, it was amazingly nice for the person who won them to give them to me anyway.... Especially because we had never 'met' before.

WTF? What ever happened to real life, "Blow their shit away and take their stuff"?
Computers are taking all the fun out of life.
The old way was much more enchanting. At least the "Job security" aspect was.

Don't worry... There is still lots and lots of Kill things and take their stuff. Blizzard just found lots of ways to help you waste your time on their game... so you keep paying them more money every month.

My neighbor not only brought the garbage can from the road to the house, but she brought the paper and placed it in the hand railing of the back porch. Doesn't take much, I realize. But she will know how much her kindness meant to me.
