Look I rarely have to go into a bank...so when I do I want to choose who helps me. If Bertha calls me up to her window I'll let the person behind me go.. I really wanted Tiffany to help me... I'm the customer and I choose Tiff!! Sometimes I choose the "red" or the "brunnie"..today I feel like Tiffany helping me.
I give her the deposit and wink....like we just did something filthy.. ;D

the customer is always right. May the man who first penned that quote, and all his progeny be hunted down and forced to work retail until the end of time.

The whole reason for having customers is to get their money out of their pocket and into the till. It doesn't matter who is right or wrong as long as the money is flowing into the till. If the customer is being an ass the retailer's revenge is having that customer's money in the till.

Sadly, the "Walmart Mentality" has warped that idea into "The Customer can do no wrong." A customer can buy anything, take it home, use it, destroy the package and bring it back broken, smelling like cigarette smoke and dog urine and still expect to get a full refund because "I didn't use it." or "I'm not 100% satisfied." Can't call that guy a lier, because he's always right. Can't give refunds to the nice person who actually didn't use the item because that would be favoritism. You have to treat all customers alike and the Jackasses in the world screw stuff up for everyone else.
Customers who hide behind "The Customer is always right" are the most foul mouthed, rude, destructive, self indulgent, wastes of time and effort by service people and they DO NOT put money in the till. They drive up the prices for those people who DO put money in the till by destroying merchandise, making messes, or engaging in hazardous activities like climbing up the shelves or dropping, spilling things in the floor to cause tripping, falling hazards for others.
And let's not forget the ones who have to open every single sealed package of identical product just to see if One might be slightly better than any of the others. Never mind that no other customer will ever pay money for a perfectly good item in an unsealed package. Would you buy underwear or socks that MIGHT have been on a stranger's possibly nasty body? Me either. But "The customer is always right" means that they get to inspect and try out everything before they buy it! And if they don't like it, they get to throw it in the floor and step on it a few times just to prove what a despicable piece of trash it was because it didn't satisfy their dreams of perfection by making them instantly more attractive to the opposite sex like the commercial said it would. AND! If they do like it, they get to leave the one they opened filthy and broken on the floor and purchase the one in the sealed package because that one looks 'used'.

I love my job. I really do.
I love 95% of my customers. But the evil ones make me want to choke the life out of them. I have no idea how people who work in chain stores do it.
Yes I do. It's not their STUFF. They don't care. They just hide from the problem customers and clean up the mess by throwing it all in the trash when that person is gone. Not a problem. *sigh*

Just FYI - I had a pair of delightful ladies in today looking for costumes for a church play. They were charming and very fun loving. When they didn't like a costume, they simply said "No. I don't like it. Do you have anything else?" and when they found what they liked it got added to the pile. When they were done they asked my name and told me they appreciated all my help and that it was a pleasure doing business with me.
See? I'm not always evil. I just don't brag on the good ones nearly as much as I vent over the ones on the naughty list.

I love churches and schools having plays and dress up days. That's how I make a living.
