The more research done on animal intelligence, the more my own beliefs are proven right. Of course, the nay-sayers always want to claim animals are too dumb to understand this or that or the other thing. I guess it makes people feel good to think they're above the other animals when the reality is that we just have a different combination of skills and problem solving abilities.

My oldest cats like to sit and watch F1 racing. The Ferrari teams are their favorites.

Bucky used to like the Fresh Prince and Cheers. His taste in programming was simple. Then again, he also used to laugh maniacally during the gory killing scenes of bad Sci-Fi movies or any of Len's bad martial arts chinese stuff, but then groan and make derisive noises during the "touching love scenes."

The Chimps may recognize their buddies in photos but a dog will innately understand pointing to the photograph. Chimps have to be trained to understand pointing gestures.

Except Strega, who refuses to follow the direction I'm pointing. Ever. Damn dog.

I'm sure he understands your pointing. The not following ever tells me he's toying with you. It's funny watching Sammie chasing sticks and lose it due to anticipating me throwing it one way and I throw it another. She looks around and sniffs for a bit then looks back at me. I'll point and she'll start looking where I point. She will be sniffing around at me when I pull out the training treats I'll point to a spot on the floor and she will immediately go sit there and wait for her treat. Mattie shows similar recognition to the meaning of my pointing but he's not as obedient as Sammie is.

whats important here is does the monkey recognize himself in a mirror? this some believe is a indication of consciousness.recognizing another individual monkey is a sign of social adaptation in evolution.

whats important here is that the word "monkey" is an inherently funny word like "Spackle" or "Unwieldy"

What's more important then that is when the monkey stopped to look in the mirror, did he try to fix his hair, or adjust is bow tie because that would indicate narcissism, and nobody likes a narcissistic baboon!
