... at least for a while.
An 'end cap' of some sort busted in the 2nd, long unused bathroom in the garage. (For those who don't know, our 'garage' has not been a place for cars in over 45 years. It's my hubby's 'toy room' and is packed to the rafters with his collectible 'stuff'.) The leaking pipe soaked the carpet in there, which ruined a lot of boxes. If you know anything about toy collecting, you'd know that the box is often worth more than the toy because of little accidents like this. I think his LP collection is ok. I haven't heard any loud lamenting over ruined dust jackets.
All of this has put the breaks on cookie production. I can still bake cakes in the limited amount of counter space left... but cookies require space for 6 large pans plus the 'catch' tray and the bagging area, not just the mixing space. If I find some over ripe bananas, there could still be banana bread. But for now, those who are still looking for their assortment platter may have to live with just the Almond Sugar and Chocolate Chip cookies that I baked Sunday and 'Christmas Cheer' cake. No big variety this time.
I need to find some more of those Mint Chocolate Chips. I think those are my new faves.

Why is there a bathroom in the garage?... For that time when getting through the door and down the hall may be too long and late

Actually, this is the house I grew up in. (How quaintly Southern is that?) My older brother drove the family car through the garage door when he was a small child. (He got in, took it out of gear and it ROLLED downhill through the door.) My parents decided to convert the space into a den by walling up the hole rather than replace the door. With 5 people in the house, the 2nd toilet & sink in the 'garage' (den) was needed. However, that 'do it yourself' project was not the best job they ever did. The pipes have always leaked. I wish there were someway to just cut the water off to that area completely.
Hubby has the day off today. Hopefully, he'll find a way to move some of his stuff back where it 'belongs'.

I have some overipe banas in my freezer I was saving for you. I ripened them myself from green and then stuck them in the freezer. Just give me a call when you want them.

How about some rum cakes? *giggle* I sent a 'rum cake' to my mom's church social. It's the Sweet potato bourbon cake recipe - surprisingly good! - from the Bunt cake lady who was on Martha Stewart's show 2 years ago. She had said you could substitute apple juice for the bourbon and that's what I normally do. But my son drank all the apple juice and I had some "Jelly Donut" cocktail mix left over from 4th of July or something. I had tried to have a glass of the stuff around Halloween and found that it had continued to ferment. It didn't skunk or turn to vinegar, it just got REALLY STRONG! I used that in the cakes. Worked really well! You can't taste the alcohol... but the Cran/Raspberry flavor gives the cake a whole new festive air. And this way, I don't waste good booze. Hope the little Baptist ladies enjoy!
