On December 16, 2009 I will be in Erlanger to have a new Defibulator/Pacemaker implanted. I'm a firm believer in the power of prayer. If you so wish throw one my way for me and my family. Much appreciated.

You have my prayers and all the hope in the world. With what my husband has been through with his ICD, I know doctors are very intelligent and caring people.

Don't keep us in suspense, did they actually find a heart for the pacemaker to assist? Just kidding, glad it went well.

My mother had three pacemakers replaced over her lifetime. We could tell when the batteries were running down because she would dose off to sleep in the middle of a conversation. The last time it was replaced I remember her going into the hospital very lethargic and then coming back into her room from recovery bouncing around on the gurney like she had just had five cups of espresso.
She passed on Christmas day, 2001. I had talked to her around 9:00am telling her we would be over around noon. My dad called around 11:00am telling me he couldn't wake her up. She had sit down in her favorite chair just after talking to me to work a crossword puzzle. At some point she dozed off never to wake back up. She was 74. Those pacemakers had allowed her thirty years of life she probably wouldn't have had otherwise.
I'm glad you are doing well, WWJD. The soreness will subside soon enough. You are charged up again for another 6-10 years. I'll continue to pray for your health and happiness.

So happy for you WWJD. So glad you had it done before Obama, Reid, and Pelosi passed nationalized healthcare. I doubt a demoncraticly appointed death panel would have found it cost effective to approve you having a pacemaker installed.

JIT, I'm sorry you lost your mom (no matter what age, it's always too soon), but am also glad it happened in such a quiet, gentle way with a minimum of fuss or anguish. I think most of us hope it will happen to us under similar circumstances.
