Not that lucky.
While perusing electronica while spouse did her thing, I noticed that DVD/VCR recorders currently being offered at places like Sears and Walmart no longer come with built-in digital tuners - meaning that one cannot use rabbit ears (as I do) with them.
I'm lucky in the sense that I bought the technology before it was "improved" with the newer models. The newer ones have the HDMI interface. So? Feh.
