ok, this is a "crappy" new year so far!! Thom is at work and our septic tank needs an emergency pumping!! water is everywhere. it has stopped for now, but I can't use any water right now. We had the tank pumped about 2 years ago. does anyone have any suggestions on a reliable septic pumping company? this sucks! thanks for any info you can share.

Most of the time it's a paper clog going into the septic tank. My suggestion is to only buy septic safe toilet paper. That quadruple layer Charmin will get you every time. Plus use Rid-x regularly. There is an emergency care liquid at Lowes you can get, last time my septic backed up, I poured it straight into the tank and it hasn't messed up since, cost me about $14.00, and a pumping cost about $300.00.

Regular Rid-X is important. Doesn't help much at this point, though. Hope the situation is resolved favorably for you. Then you can wipe the slate clean for a better new year.

half gallon of butter milk a month would be like dumping the box of rid-x.

Thanks you guys! I was able to reach my wonderful son-in-law who is a plumber and he fixed it within an hour. He wouldn't take any money so I bought them a vacuum cleaner for their new home. I still think with what I would have paid for a weekend call I came out ahead! Lucky Thom... he didn't have to deal with this! So, on with the new year! It sure started out kind of "stinky"!!
