Ok, EPB Fi internet has options that I'm not sure I understand based on mb file size. Is the 15mg 20mg 50mg related to what they allow total per month of downloaded files, or just an idea of the speed available to download? I'm looking at using this to improve my productivity for work, but if total file size over a month is limited, I'm not sure it's a good option for me.
Anyone care to help me understand what this is about?

This is the connection speed, or mega bits per second (mbps) (a byte is roughly 10 bits, really 8 but there is some overhead). So divide by 10 and you'll get 1.5 mega bytes per second up to 5 megabytes per second. So if you are downloading or uploading large files, they'll go faster with the higher rate plans. It has nothing to do with the amounts of data. I don't know if they have caps for that or not. Comcast does, but they won't tell you what they are. Its mostly to discourage people from filesharing with programs like bittorrent.

Ok then, it's worth looking into for my purposes then. Thanks Worm!

from an EPB customer....
15 is comparable to comcast offering 20 is unbelievably faster than comcast (my package) 50 is insanely fast. you stream netflix downloads without a hitch

I have the 20mb service from EPB and when I run the speed test I regularly have downloads that are 30 or better.

I am SO READY to ditch Comcast and their crappy customer service and frequent outages-can't wait for EPB to get here!

From epb.net website:
"Voice Mail
Records incoming messages when you're away from your phone, on the phone or on the Internet. Additional charges may apply."
I take this to mean that I cannot use the telephone when I'm using the internet. Is that correct?
(As opposed to DSL service where phone use and internet use seem to have no connection to each other.)
Can I still use my run of the mill telephones throughout the house or do I have to use some special EPB-supplied phones?
How about fax machines and answering devices?
Do rain and storms affect fiber? When it storms, DSL has problems.

Yoda,
I don t have the phone service, but I can tell you the internet and tv has been perfect since switching from Comcast to EPB. It works great in all weather. Super fast, too.

After a weekend with Choo Choo internet, I can't wait to get back home. How do you people live with at least a 20Mb connection speed? Its been horrific this weekend.

I take this to mean that I cannot use the telephone when I'm using the internet. Is that correct? That's poorly worded to say the least. You can indeed use your Internet, Phone, and TV all at the same time. Also, in theory, fiber should be more reliable than cable and DSL during rainy conditions since the fiber is not affected by water like cable and DSL are.
