Saturday night Babs and I attended an event at Rhythm and Brews, organized as a fundraiser for medical expenses for Marsha Moss, longtime manager and eventually owner of the Brass Register.
Marsha has worked in restaurants all her life, now suffers from cancer and has no insurance. The packed house at R & B heard bands familiar to old BR hands, including most of the variations on Overland Express and the bands spun off from them. On the Facebook page for Marsha Moss Benefit, the total contributed was reported as $14K. Another event is planned for later in the Spring.
Rock on, Marsha.

Isn't Marsha the lady who held all the money when the BR was running?

Isn't Marsha the lady who held all the money when the BR was running? What do you mean by that?

Marsha was manager for a number of years, then returned with a partner to become co-owner for several years before closing down the business. She handled money in both capacities.

"What do you mean by that?"
No double entendre here...one of the ladies who manged/owned the BR always had a HUGE roll of cash on her...don't know why. Maybe she didn't have time to take the till back to the office, or preferred to keep her cash in close proximity. I mentioned to her several times that her practice was less than safe, but she said she wasn't concerned. THe lady I am thinking about was rather short, a bit stout and had very short hair and gold-rimmed glasses. She was always very outgoing.
