CARTA To Install Charging Stations In Parking Garages For Nissan Leaf Owners By the time Nissan makes its new LEAF hatchbacks available to Chattanooga drivers late this year, CARTA parking garages will be equipped with charging stations for use by owners of electric vehicles (EV), officials said Thursday. www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_167219.aspI hope this isn't going to be another taxpayer funded greenie giveaway, but it certainly sounds like it will be. I have to question who is paying for the installations? Who will be paying for the coal we need to burn to make the electricity to put into the Leaf at these charging stations? Are they going to have Leaf reserved parking only near these charging stations? (With the appropriate fines of course for those who do not wish to bow down the green machine and park in their space) Are they also going to install some gas pumps for me in case I need to get a splash before I go? (Of course I will need a reserved space by the pump) Explanations that this won't cost us anything because it comes from a Federal, State, or Local Government Grant doesn't hold water because those entities do not generate any funds, they only take mine, call it theirs and pass it out to their favored recipients. In the end I am the one footing the bill. I am sure may people would be aghast that I would think there is anything wrong with this announcement.

The article made it sound like Nissan might be paying for the charging stations.

Never had any problems out of any Republic attended garage.
Of coarse, I've never tried with the 'pay yourself' lots

Even handicapped has to pay in the 'pay yourself' lots. If not, you get a parking ticket just like everyone else.

If I could afford one I'd have an electric or hybrid car.
I am all for the handicapped parking, especially since I sometimes help transport people who actually require them.
Are there still "economy cars only" in the parking garages? I think those were just about saving space and not a low MPG privilege I often see SUV's in the special slots for low MPG cars at Greenlife Grocery.
I don't like the "expectant mother" special parking places. Not fair!
