Montlake Road Reopens After Mudslide Highway Crews Worked Around The Clock To Remove Boulder posted January 28, 2010 Montlake Road is now open to traffic after being closed by a substantial mudslide that brought a huge boulder down on the road early Monday morning. Hamilton County Highway Department crews have worked around the clock night and day to clear the roadway, officials said. Harold Austin, Hamilton County Highway Department director, said a special hydraulic rock hammer was used to break up the over-sized boulder. Mr. Austin said he appreciates the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department setting up lights allowing his crews to work overnights to clear the road.
