What would you expect to pay for cut and color (blond) if you had short hair?

I pay $8 to get my hair cut short. I'd pay another $5 to color it if I was inclined to color it.

Dye jobs can be really expensive at the salon. I payed $65 to have mine colored almost 20 years ago. Since then, I'm all about those little boxes of Ms Clairol, Nice and Easy or Garnier. Mind you, some times my hair turns hot pink, neon orange or purple. But it is CHEAP.

Much like dry cleaning, women pay a helluva lot more for hair cuts than men. I *could* go to the nearest "cut-n-go" (like Great Clips) and pay around $15 for a haircut, but I've never gotten a good haircut there. To get a GOOD haircut (both sides even, the style is the way I wanted it, it falls properly when dry because natural curl was taken into account...) usually costs between $40 and $60 dollars and yes, I can tell the difference.
For a while in college I went to the nearby beauty school for haircuts. Sometimes I'd get a talented student that did a fantastic job. Usually I'd get an ok haircut and sometimes I'd get a "Great Clips" level cut that looked like result of a fight with a weedwhacker.
Now, I get it cut about 3x/yr but shell out the big bucks so that the cut will look ok even after three months of growth.

It only cost me $5 for a trim. That being said I haven't had it "cut" in over 2 years now. Damn cannot wait til it gets long enough to donate.

If I went with a simple buzz cut, I could do that too.

I got a really good cut at JC Penny at Hamilton place for $30, but didn't get it colored, so I'm not sure how much it would cost with a color added.

I get mine done in East Ridge by a wonderful lady who charges me $68 for cut and color. She does an amazing job. I use to go to a "salon" that was charging me $75 for a cut, $150 for color, and $20 to "style" after cutting. (Their charges had crept up over the years, they say that was the discounted price for being a long term customer.) I finally said bullshit and found someone else to do my hair. I've been going to her for almost a year now, and for the first time in years, I've had people stop me and ask where I get my hair done. My hair is medium length, not short.

I didn't get any photos of it right after it turned purple. Let's put it this way, the color was so cartoonish that I through together two WoW orc costumes in a week to take to Dragoncon. Heck my hair was orc colored! I did wash it several times with some harsh shampoo to strip the worst of that out ... then kept my hair UP through the entire convention. The two 'new' orcs + hubby playing "One of these is not like the others." Hiding my odd color as much as possible by wearing it UP all weekend.

Harking back to my statistics classes of many, many years ago, shall we try to list our normal forumites on a curve using just one standard deviancy?
and what does this have to do with woman hair anyway?

My lovely wife cuts, styles and colors my hair for free.
Well, not really for free, as she has to live with me between cuts.
