if you like a smooth running machine, DO NOT and i repeat DO NOT take a chance on the 8 or 9 updates that Microshaft released today. many XP users are reporting the blue screen of death after the mandatory reboot. and yes, it has happened to me. while many of the victims are S.O.L. and cant fix the problem, i have a small little program that unfucked the computer in 10 minutes. it took me longer to locate the CD than it did to fix this screwup. if anyone on here runs into the same problem, let me know. for a very reasonable small fee i will undo what MS fucked up. the program probably costs 300 bucks if you had to buy the thing. it also unlocks ANY password on any MS based system. works great when for if you have kids who have a passworded account and you want to check on the things they are doing/downloading

Odd. I applied all the updates to seven XP Pro machines and one Vista Home Basic machine today with no problems.

It's only a problem if the machine has a root kit. If your machine is rebooting with a blue screen, replace the atapi.sys file with a uninfected copy. it's located in \windows\system32\drivers
After you boot, you will still be infected, so run combofix, microsoft security essentials, malware bytes and whatever other antivirus/antimalware tools you like.
Later, dabone
