Regardless of the information given, the reporter or editor should have had enough sense to not publish a name.

That is public information and the immediate dissemination of the known/unknown information should not take sloppy seconds to emotional type issues. Just ask Carlos Miller... California appeals court rules that police were wrong to release photos of deceased February 11th, 2010
By Carlos Miller On a bright, sunny day in 2006, 18-year-old Nikki Catsouras took her father’s Porsche without permission and sped off down a California freeway at 100 mph before losing control and crashing into a toll booth. She died instantly in a crash that decapitated her; a collision so horrific that the coroner would not even allow her parents to identify the body. But pictures of her mangled body ended up online after they were leaked from a pair of California Highway Patrol officers conducting the investigation. The pictures went viral, meaning they were accompanied by the usual mean-spirited comments you get from the usual anonymous idiots. And that understandably added to the stress the family was already going through.

he is not the only athlete to die doing what he loved. this is just more proof that the entire Luge course needs to be a totally enclosed tubular course. leave it half ice the way it is, but have a Lexan top half that would prevent things like this from ever happening again. with the course encased like i suggest, any launch off the sled would keep the athlete inside the course and not a flying projectile.
and in this case, releasing the name didnt really matter, it was broadcast to half the world live anyways. if the family wasn't there to see it happen, they probably saw it on television.
and duke is gonna be happy about that carlos miller site. there is more shit on there for him to read about and post in here.

Government enforcers of all stripes and wannnabe cops need to be reminded of the original objectives are. Duke and Carlos Miller are two peas in a pod or hands in gloves, only Mr. Miller make sense every once in a while and has a skosh of credibility.

Unfortunately, due to the advancement of information technology, that rarely occurs any more. Even years ago, when I got called out on a fatal crash in the rural areas of the County, the family usually beat me there, now it is becoming more common even in the urban areas. I've seen cell phone photos of the clearly recognizable vehicles on "news" sites posted before I left the scene.
One time, the mother of the deceased driver was sitting in a lawn chair nearby upon my arrival. The chair was set up for her by concerned and thoughtful bystanders as her dead son was cut out of the car. I merely had to confirm what she already knew.
I can remember (Despite chemically induced attempts to forget) each and every family notification I have ever done. I figure if it ever gets easy, I'm gonna quit.
"If it bleeds, it leads" is truer today that it was when that saying first came into the lexicon.
Despite my disdain for most of the local "news" media, they are only providing a service that the viewers demand.

You guys deserve twice what you make. It'd would be nice if there were someone else designated to do the informing. But that might take more funding. Any hospite groups that could help? My ex was an ER doc. He told me somewhat of telling the families the bad news.

Ah!
Oh my god, they killed Kenny!
Times have changed, our kids are geting worse. They won't obey their parents, they just wanna fart and curse! Should we blame the government, or blame society? Or should we blame the images on TV?
NO! Blame Canada, Blame Canada It seems that everything's gone wrong, since Canada came along Blame Canada, Blame Canada We need to form as full assault, it's Canada's fault
Don't blame yourself for your son Stan, He saw that darn cartoon and now he's off to join the Klan! and my boy Eric once had my picture on his shelf, but now when he sees me, he tells me to (gasp) myself
Blame Canada, Blame Canada Because when Canada is gone, There'll be no more Celine Dion Blame Canada, Blame Canada They're not even a real country anyway
Kenny could've been a doctor or a lawyer, it's true instead he burned up like a piggy on the barbecue Should we blame the matches? Should we blame the fire? or the doctors who allowed him to expire?
HECK NO! Blame Canada, Blame Canada with all their Hockey hallabaloo, and that bitch Anne Murray too Blame Canada, Blame Canada all I can say is oy Gevalt, it's Canada's Fault
EVERYBODY!!
Blame Canada, Blame Canada With Brain Adams' Beady Eyes Margret Trudeau's friendly thighs Blame Canada, Shame on Canada!
For the smut we must stop! The trash we must smash! The laughter and fun, this will be undone! We must blame them and cause a fuss before somebody thinks of blaming us!!!

Technically it really should have "Blame Canada" from "South Park, the Movie" at the beginning or the end. I'm not terribly bothered by not seeing the attribution but add it to the bottom and things should be cool.

Here's another rule for you Jay. Don't get in a pissing match with the moderator, especially after the moderator has given you an easy enough out. Now this is off topic enough and no one else is interested in it. If you have any further questions about this let's take it private.
Fair enough?
