I guess we're supposed to ridicule this??? It's not a test, Snoop Dog. American Bandstand kids looked goofy too in 1973. Oh, hell. Never mind.

Naw, c'mon, let's make fun of all the back kids, with their big afros, and their kra-zee dance steps, hahaha, oh what fun this is. Shouldn't this be in Videos & Funny Stuff? If Melissa Hussain had been moderating it would have been moved or locked by now.

Pretty much EVERYBODY except Gerald Ford looked comical in their authentic 70's polyester disco leisure suits. You would apparently feel more comfortable seeing a video of my mother and father in platform heels and bandanas. Lighten up. Don Cornelius had a bigger influence on me than half my teachers.

I am LOV'N that! I wish I could put in a TV with clips like that playing in the shop. When people come in looking for "Disco" clothes... and complain that the packaged costumes are ugly, I would love for them to see what we REALLY WORE back then. As my grandmother used to say "I wouldn't wear that to a gut dragging." But at the time, what is shown were the height of fashion. Those were the hottest, funkiest, most sought after fashions. We all wore it, black or white... and thought we looked GREAT in them. Plaid bell bottoms and all.

I know in the 80's I'd much rather listen to Soul Train than American Bandstand. The music was better. Of course, I hated most 80's music then as much as I do now.
