Seeking Multicultural Program Coordinator for Tennessee Disability Pathfinder
Tennessee Disability Pathfinder is a free, comprehensive information and referral service covering all disabilities and ages. It provides helpline, web, and print resources in English and Spanish to persons with disabilities, family members, service providers, and advocates. Pathfinder is a project of the Tennessee Council on Developmental Disabilities and the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center at Vanderbilt University.
Position: Multicultural Program Coordinator
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in social work or psychology preferred with at least 24 months of relevant experience, including experience in working with individuals with disabilities and their families, a working knowledge of community services, fluency in English and Spanish, and experience working with service providers and families who are members of minority groups, speak other languages, or have different cultural experiences. Excellent communication, organizational, and administration skills. Experience working in higher education setting desirable.
Job Duties
1. Planning and coordinating multicultural projects at the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center as part of community outreach efforts including:
a. Hispanic Outreach Project
b. Camino Seguro Database of disability and social service agencies who have a staff member fluent in Spanish and English.
c. Kurdish Outreach Project
d. Partnerships with Tennessee State University and other educational institutions to create diverse learning experiences related to disabilities and multicultural competencies
2. Assisting Spanish-speaking families on the Pathfinder HELPline who live in rural counties in Middle, East and West Tennessee and building community collaborative relationships to expand Camino Seguero and to connect Spanish-speaking families with services.
3. Assisting Pathfinder staff in providing information and referral services to families seeking services for individuals with intellectual or other developmental disabilities, especially in rural counties.
4. Representing Pathfinder and the VKC in the community, including making educational presentations to enhance disability and multicultural awareness.
