(from an e-mail) "TAKE 10: An interactive map is available to track the percentage of returned census questionnaires in your state, county, city or tract. Check out your community’s mail-back participation rate at 2010.census.gov/2010census/take10map/. Currently, participation rates from Census 2000 are displayed on the map, but beginning March 22, percentage rates from 2010 data will be updated daily."

Indoor toilet? What's that? I dunno, you will have to ask the genius that came up with this survey. There were many, many questions I found to be odd. They really did want to know if there was indoor plumbing and how much the electric bill was last month. I fail to see how any of these questions pertain to counting the number of people living in the USA.

Legally, you're required to respond, but the only answer you're legally required to answer is "how many people live here". The rest is none of their business. And, I discovered from a friend who is a census worker, they stand at your front door, push a button, and your residence is now a GPS coordinate in case they need that for some reason.

They need a GPS coordinate when they go to launch the missiles.

I have it on good(?) authority that it depends on what your definition of "is" is.

Dobre din. I have lots of Russians living around here. Does that count? (sorry so slow - haven't been over here much lately) My net friend Ethric (Kjetil) lives in Norway. He took a government desk job right out of college (University). It was so far north that he gets paid a bonus for going up there. The Norweign's are trying to keep the Russians from 'annexing' that part of their country. The only way to keep the Russians OUT is to pay people to occupy the area.

Every ad I see and last week's letter just tell me they are wasting more and more money. Every wasteful ad makes me care less about answering their damn census. Just shut up and DO the bloody thing.

You're required by law to tell them how many people live in your household. Nothing more.

Since the government lies to me, can I be a 57 year old single hispanic woman with 13 children?

Would you please cite your source? According to the Census site there is a $100 fine for not answering some or all of the questions and a $500 fine for answering falsely.

The US Constitution. It requires a census to be conducted every 10 years, but only for enumeration to determine apportionment of congressional representation and direct taxes to the states.
Besides, as someone else jokingly stated, you have the right to remain silent when questioned by the government.
Here's Walter Williams talking about the bastardization of the census.

I am just gonna answer them all, "No".
Anybody know any good census lawyers?
Flores doesn't count, unless he is working part time for the US Census Bureau.

As much as you might like it to be, the Constitution is not the Law. The government is more likely to use it when running short on TP than they are to take it as law.

The Constitution is the Law. Just because someone usurps the law, doesn't change the law. You might suffer consequences for obeying the law when facing down the usurpers, however, but the Constitution is still THE law for this land, and more people need to stand up and obey it, as many states are with the guns and have declared they will do with the ObamaCare.

You are right Conservator! And the Liberal Conspiracy is so entrenched that Obama was charging fines for not cooperating all the way back to the first census in 1790!

They only charged fines if you violated Constitutional law.
Making up stuff as you go along is a bit more modern.

This is what the US Constitution requires:
Also, only the Secretary of Commerce (legislative branch) is authorized to conduct the census, and the executive branch is to keep their grubby paws off of it.

In 1790 "making up stuff as you go" WAS Constitutional Law.

Tracking the Asian hordes migrating into Hamilton County boosts investor confidence in Thai food chains planting their flag in the Deep South.
Somehwat more realistically, white flight from old urban cores is a political football.

Got mine yesterday and it took all of 3 minutes to complete it. I have a friend who works for the Census and she's getting all sorts of hassles right now.
