Here is the essential text of the 2010 census questions. You can expect to begin receiving the forms in mid-March. 1. How many people were living or staying in this house, apartment, or mobile home on April 1, 2010? 2. Were the any additional people staying here April 1, 2010 that you did not include in Question 1? 3. In this house, apartment, or mobile home – Mark x ONE box. __ Owned by you or someone in this household with a mortgage or loan? Include home equity loans. __ Owned by you or someone in this household free and clear (without a mortgage or loan)? __ Rented? __ Occupied without payment of rent? 4. What is your telephone number? We may call if we don’t understand an answer. 5. Please provide information for each person living here. Start with a person living here who owns or rents this house, apartment, or mobile home. If the owner or renter lives somewhere else, start with any adult living here. This will be Person 1. What is Person 1’s name? 6. What is Person 1’s sex? 7. What is Person 1’s age and what is Person 1’s date of birth? 8. Is Person 1 of Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish origin? 9. What is Person 1’s race? 10. Does Person 1 sometimes live or stay somewhere else? To see the full text, you can go to: 2010.census.gov

If they ask, "Do you drink or smoke too much?" I am kicking their ass out of my house.

And just why does Big Brother want to know these things?
As for my housemates, are there boxes for Canine/Feline American under Race, or are they all just "other"?

Dunno Grid, but apparently I have relatives from a few generations back that didn't fill out such forms. Of course, they might have been immigrants, but if they didn't tell their children.

Should I count the dead hooker under the bed? No. They want to know who lives at your house not who stays there. Yoda I wasn't asking if you were lying, I re-worded the original question.

Went and re-read the OP strictj yes it seem you should include the dead hooker as long as she still can be considered a person..

I knew that. I was just responding to what you had written. You know how literal I can be. That's what makes my world go askew (or around or whatever).
For example, I don't really believe PM wears heels*, but it's fun to take what he (or you) said literally and play with the words. After all, this is the interwebs.
* except maybe on weekends.

Our tax dollars at work - - -
Today's snail-mail brought me a first-class, post-paid letter saying that I'll get the Census form next week.
I consider today's letter a waste of tax money.

Stimulus money for the post office. They need a bail-out, don't you know?

I like the comment about mobile homes - they are no longer considered homes, houses, or what have you, they now have their own category.

Should I count the dead hooker under the bed? Not unless Cold Ethyl is still generating some revenue. But check with ACORN and Charlie Rangel for advice! LOL

I'm offended by #8 Is Person 1 of Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish origin? Then it asks the Race of Person #1 in a separate question. Are we trying to establish that you could be Caucasian, Negro or Occidental but your people are from Spain so you still have Hispanic, Latino or Spanish origin? WTF?
And people in Brazil speak Portuguese. Burma!

Well, for number 8, you could try putting, "Maybe".

For those of you who know me, you know that my wife and son answer "yes" to question #8. Isn't that funny?

The "Your fixing to get another letter" letter really pissed me off, too. Yet another example that our government is as stupid as they think we are. And it costs us money for them to demonstrate it to us, over and over. S.

I haven't received anything from the Census yet. Maybe they said to hell with me after I told them I wouldn't be participating in the "long form" American Survey they sent me last year. I was astounded by some of the questions. How much was my electric bill? DId I have indoor toilet? How far I drive to work? shit like that.

Indoor toilet? What's that? That's where you stand inside the kitchen and pee out the back door Same thing may be done with poo, but it's far more challenging!

We have an outhouse. We've had indoor bathrooms for about 6 years now, but we still have the outhouse. Comes in handy when you lock yourself out and the RV isn't here.
BTW, if you ever look for a home in Alaska, "OH" on the listing means "outhouse".
I've seen houses with indoor hot tubs and outdoor bathrooms.

Can you see Russia while sitting on the throne?
** Actually, my grandmother had no running water in her home, ever. All of her children volunteered to pay to have the house plumbed. She wouldn't have it. She stubbornly proclaimed "I didn't have it when Alvis (my grandfather) died and I won't have it now!" I'm not sure what the logic was in that. But Stubborn is a strong trait in my family.
