Great work, Bob! Is "Rock" still paying $1000 for a "feature bike" spread? ;-)

Great pics. It's been a while since I viewed a RoadRash, but where's the model straddling the hog?

Ooooo...I hope you know that I was kidding about the $1000. I hope. didn't know. I didn't believe it but I don't know rock either. I know the models (the ones I know) were not paid In my case it didn't matter I was at the dam looking for photo ops and saw a really cool bike. By the time I got parked and unloaded the wheelchair, Tom pulled up. I asked him what he was doing and he said "I'm here to shoot that bike" I told him I was going to ask if I could shoot it. Tom told me "If you'll give me the images, for the cover next month I'll make sure you get credit" I said "heck yeah" I will be shooting more cover bikes for road rash, probably for an ad that will be a discount for a photo session. </shameless plug>

Bob: Ronnie "Rock" Land is one of the owners. Tom "the Bomb" Blevins is another. The cover and an inside spread used to feature a hot bike along with a hot "bikerette" (my word, not theirs). The photography (mostly by Tom) was very good, but the perception among some people, particularly potential advertisers, was that the girl got "nekkid" inside the magazine. She didn't, of course, but that kept away some blue-chip advertisers. Since toning down the photography, i.e., eliminating the Biker Babe, the magazine has picked up both additional readers and advertisers. It's very well done and put out by a small group of dedicated, devoted, hardworking guys. And, no, I don't work for them, I'm just a fan.
Your work will be an excellent contribution to their efforts. I know that Ronnie, Tom, and Jimmy (the other owner) would love to pay you, but they, like most every other magazine and small business these days, are constrained by a tight budget. By the way, I saw a motorcycle once that was actually operated by a wheelchair-bound rider in a side car. One of the neatest sites ever: a motorcycle flying down the street with a "passenger" in the side car but no "operator" on the bike itself. Just in case you're interested...

All I know about the guys of Road Rash is that the one seeing my next door neighbor seems a really nice guy.
Only other thing I know is I want to go get my motorcycle from storage in Murfreesboro, but with my wrist broken I'm not sure I can ride it yet.

Yeah I know, the economy has hit everyone and the guys that depend on advertising have been hit very hard. I believe in what those guys are doing and will support them.

The guy who's black and white bike looks like a gateway box is Tom.

Tom the Bomb is a great guy and does some very nice photo work, but I gotta tell ya...that's one of the best-looking covers I've seen on any magazine in a mighty long time. Bob, why would you want to photograph scantily-clad women when you can shoot motorcycles?! And, Ronnie does a helluva layout and design job.

Hey, Bob. Since you're doing two-wheeled vehicles now, maybe I can be the subject of your next shoot? Oops. It's smoking a little. Maybe I need to do some work on it. Some assembly required, I suppose. Maybe next week? For the curious, most of the parts are for a 1972 Honda CL100K2. The rest are for my 1961 Briggs & Stratton pacemaker.

Ditto Jay: NICE BIKE!
And what are those pieces? I could use some of those parts for Steam Punk garb.
