I believe that pic is from the Outdoor Chattanooga interperetive Battlefield bike ride (I think the last Sunday of every month). It's an easy pace appropriate for everyone, even 5yr old kids. Outdoor Chattanooga can even help with providing a bike.

Even though it's located in GA, it's official name is Chickamauga-Chattanooga National Military Park.

While we're talking about bike riding, WK, maybe you can tell me about the large group of cyclists I saw at the old Bilo parking lot on Dayton Boulevard a few days ago in the evening. What was that about?

my concern is if "WE" are #22 and we really SUCK at wheelchair friendly let alone bike friendly. And to me that sends a really bad message about how "bike friendly" the rest of the country is.

I know Bob....
Yoda, the Chattanooga Bike Club has a "show and go" ride out of the old RB Bi-Lo parking lot on Tuesdays. The main group starts at 6:30 pm, and riders follow one of a few similar routes depending on their level of fitness and amount of time they have to ride, the longest route including a climb up Mowbray mountain before returning to the lot. "Show and go" means that, while most riders can find someone close to their own pace to ride with if they ask around prior to starting, there isn't a designated guide or "last rider" that stays with you (unlike the Outdoor Chattanooga ride). There are road markings however, to help newcomers stay on the route and again, if a newcomer shows and lets folk know they don't know the route and their approximate speed, someone will usually be found to help guide them along.

I missed that ride last night due to my great niece and nephew wanting me to do some things with them but I plan to make up for it with a ride downtown tonight. I have my bike in my truck and plan to park at the Presbyterian Church in North Chattanooga around 5:15 this afternoon and ride down Broad Street to St. Elmo, back up to Main and up to Ferger Place. Then riding back to Market and back toward my truck. I'll be ready for food and beverage around 7:00, I think. If anyone wants to join me for the ride or the meal afterward just let me know. I'll check back here before leaving.

We'll* be at Buffalo Wild Wings downtown tonight at about 7:00 to 7:30 for live team trivia. You are welcome to join us.
* Myself, Lowly's Girl, and probably her sister and Mightejoe, and sometimes OSRB.

Would also have to disagree on it not being chair friendly, too. Of coarse, there's room for much improvement but I've seen alot worse areas. Hell, I live in a worse area! Chattanooga's touristy sections fair up pretty well compared to most. I can maneuver through most of Coolidge park, River Walk, and Downtown without much of a fuss. Can't say that about Ringgold or even Gatlinburg .

We'll be in the bar area, as close to the Golden Tee machine as we can get.

In east Brainard there are sidewalks but you don't anywhere go on Thursday because everyone puts their garbage can on the sidewalk.

Nice hanging out for a while last night, Justin. Come on by any time, we're there every Wednesday. If you like, I could even introduce you to Bryan Stone.

I enjoyed it too, Worm. I'll have work in town for at least through next week. I might try to make it next Wednesday. I'd like to meet Bryan. How long does he give that place to stay open? To get back on topic, reading the article I discover that they were going for geographic diversity so they eliminated a bunch of cities in California to keep it from being a California only list. That makes me feel better about the state of bicycling in this country and still impresses me that Chattanooga is on the list. Last night I had nothing but good experiences with the motorist sharing the road with me.
