We will meet at Ross' landing at 7:00 pm on Monday 5/17/2010 and walk to the choo choo shooting our city in the evening.
bring your camera, bring your tripod. There will be several low light experts to help you set your camera. The last safari had 20+ people this one I expect to have more.
(I'll be parking at the choo choo and riding the free shuttle to the river so I can give people rides that want, never tried but can probably get 10 really friendly people in my van, with camera gear)

This is a suggestion for something fun to do. If you are worried about your safety I assure you there will be no problems. If you want to bring your gun with permit, I don't care.
If you want to discuss the safety of Chattanooga, do it somewhere else. This thread is about taking photos.

If I'm still in town then, and I expect I will be, I'll try to join you. There is so much going on and so many landscape and architectural details in those blocks that a photographer could stroll up and down that area for a lifetime and get spectacular shots with each pass. No one should worry about their safety in that area, especially not between 7:00pm and 9:00pm. Now a little farther south or a little father north or east or west might be different but not there.

Justin, you are welcome to join and you are correct, we will be walking down chestnut or broad or market depending on the group.
And for the record OHWell posted a comment that was full of lies about how dangerous the city is, that was expected to be and was deleted. She is welcome to start her own thread and organize her own safari. She is not welcome to undermine someone else's attempt to plan an activity of any kind.

It's a little late for my schedule, but I'll definitely try to make it. I could use some help with low-light photography.

You'll be able to get on the free shuttle and ride back to your car at almost any point. There will be several photographers very very good at low light plus me and a few others.

The Safari is a go. I'll be at the Hunter attending a reception at six but will get away as fast as I can. Tony will be there look for the people with tripods. Its starting to look like 20-30 people, if so we might split into groups.
