Politician Andrae McGary has been named as host of WGOW's Live & Local Show, formerly hosted by Robert T. Nash. It should be interesting to have a sitting councilma on the air each day, fielding calls from people fed up with local government.

RTN always came across on the air as being rather short in stature. From what I heard of Andre on the air this morning that may be the extent of similarities between the two.

I'm surprised they moved so quickly & even more surprised w/ their choice.
I was worried that time frame was gonna go canned.
I'm not sure how I feel about having an elected official doing a radio show but I will give him a listen.
(I think I just heard a third person reference)
but hey, it's the first day

Is Councilman McGary going to resign if he decides to run again as RTN was told by management when he was considering a run?
I listened......
Boring, but it was the first day.

You know what they say about 1rst impressions. Blackfox mentioned Parker Smith. Someone take that turd out of moth balls and give him a show.

Speaking of Parker Smith. Dude said something years ago that still holds true today. He complained about radio managers giving talk shows to people who haven't been trained in broadcasting. Sort of like letting like just any guy be an air traffic controller.
He was right. McGary may be many things, and may do some of them well, but he's not a broadcaster. Or as he would say, "Andrae is not a broadcaster."
Bill Lockhart has never been the sharpest knife in the drawer, and he has proven it yet again. McGary saying he'll step aside from the show for a few months at re-election time in 2013? Seriously. if this guy thinks he can last 3 years on talk radio, he's dreaming.

Makes me think I might be equally qualified to do talk radio.

HA, Lockhart tried to kill 2 birds with one stone. Hiring a black man and a govt official. Could this be a clue as to why RTN was let go? People uncomfortable with RTN saying the N word and govt pressure? I haven't tuned in yet...maybe after Rush is over.

Potential Theme SongsGiven Curtis Mayfield & The Impressions' Chattanooga connections, I suggest some theme songs associated with them: It’s Alright We’re A Winner Keep On Pushing And while it might be controversial, Curtis wrote it so it's fair game since many people of the red-neck-ius persuation often call into local Talk Radio: Monkey Time

Warkitty - with your experiences and list of fans, I think you would do an excellent job on Talk Radio!

I tuned in today, just for shits and giggles since I had already voted twice. I didn't giggle once. If I wanted to go to a City Council meeting, where nothing is ever accomplished, unless we are talking about Pop up Parties and what the City Council is not going to do about an important issue, yet again, I might actually go to a City Council meeting. (And the City Commission meetings have no commercials, except for the ones for WGOW, 1 to 4, sponsored by Mr. McGary.) Pure comedy, Mr. McGary, on top of an already commodic Mayor Littlefield. You go, girl. Speaking of which, June Griffin seems to be making more sense to me, now, after these effeminate clowns have exposed themselves. Scary.
