so I guess the move to One North Shore wasn't such a good idea financially
the North Shore location sure is nice but I miss the old one. and after Whole Foods comes in and jacks up the current location I may find a new food joint.
I'm always looking for a reason to go to Asheville. Looks like I found one. Gotta get by their GreenLife before it turns into a Big Box.

Now it will be Green Food.

Now it will be Green Food. Rather clever! Still, I'd rather have a good ol' Red Food in that location. Buehler's just does not get it for a neighborhood grocery.

Have you been in a Whole Foods? They are on the same level as Earthfare. IMO this will be, or should be, a step up from Greenlife. I wouldn't say it was a bad move financially for the Greenlife owners. On the contrary, Whole Foods saw an opportunity for them to get into a hot location and I'm sure the Greenlife owners are getting a pretty penny for these 2 stores

I went into the new store once, not too long ago. Have you ever walked into a place and had it feel like home? Or give you the creeps? Or any other sudden, intense feeling? Well, when I walked into that place, I was suddenly and inexplicably angry. I mean just boiling, hopping mad. I have no idea what caused it, it wasn't like someone punched me in the face when I stepped through the door or something. At best, it may have been that I saw what looked to me like a vast crowd of trust-fund-hippies, posers, and trendy types, none of which can I really stand all that much, but I've been in other similar places (such as just about any coffee place on the north shore) and didn't have the same reaction.
Doesn't really relate to the original topic, just thought I'd share.
Oh, and one other thing I noticed while I was in there. Why the hell do you put vegetarian mayonnaise in chicken salad? WTF?

I went by there today. The little taster cups for soup are gone for reasons of health.

I agree with Worm. Was told how what a treat it was and that I should have dinner there. Nobody in a chair had anything to do with the design of that store for sure. (After spending thirty minutes there, I got back in my car and ate elsewhere)

the soup samples are gone b/c every assclown and their kids walked around all day and sampled soup rather than buy,... and half the jackballs didn;t follow the plainly posted sign: "Please use a new sample cup each taste"
I wanted to punch all those high rollers and bottom feeders everytime. The soup is great. Read what's in the soup. you don;t have to try it to know whether it's good!

Good for Chattanooga. Welcome Whole Foods. Id guess they sold because the bank was calling twice a day wondering where the mortgage payment was. I dont know, my guess. If they were making money.... why would the owner sell? Maybe because the Signal Mtn Pruett's criminal case that the bookkeeper was found not guilty of stealing money and now she wants damages? I dont know. I never understood why items (beer bread meats Ice cream etc) I bought in the old Hixson Pike location magically were exactly $1 more in the new location. I never shopped there again... as a matter of principle. I also never understood their whole 'green' thing.... when did tearing down a bunch of trees and paving a brand new parking lot and building a brand new building become 'green?' And when did daily FedEx and overnight UPS deliveries of product become 'green?' Because of...... Hmm, well, all the poseurs. And the poseur shoppers who wasted their money there. I also wonder about the number of times I was told by Greenlife employees and others that the owners are doing so well they own a "Lear-jet." How 'green' is that? Good riddance Greenlife owners, I surprised you lasted this long. bring on Whole Foods. Whole Foods is a chain yes but has a decent corporate citizen attitude and has the buying power and distribution efficiency to provide value for its goods. I know Whole Foods and yes, they are pricey, but no where near as pricey as Greenlife.

"If they were making money.... why would the owner sell? " There's two types of business ownership. Those that do it for their livelihood and those that do it for an investment. In the case of the investment, you sell as soon as your profits have topped. At any time, either type of ownership may change to the other.

I agree. Please read my quote in context. My opinion is they are selling because they are losing money.
"In the case of the investment, you sell as soon as your profits have topped."
You left out what to do when the profits are nonexistent or when the investment is losing money.

"good for chattanooga" sorry. no. not good for chattanooga. just b/c you're a cliched hater of the "green" stuff doesn't mean this is "good for chattanooga" while not detrimental to chattanooga,... it's certainly isn't good. It never stops. Anybody who is environmentally conscious get's the "oh yeah! well what about that car you drive you poseur!" you know what's green? your lawn. the forest. farms. Living "green" is a branding. It's a fabricated, yet highly effective, pop culture reference. To think it's silly is one thing. But to brutally hate on it just makes you look & sound ignorant. If you wanna live in a sophisicated world you have to have emmssions, exhaust, buildings, concrete, air conditioning, etc.etc. doesn't mean you can't be environmentally responsible as well. and a majority of the time it's the good 'ol boy, god fearing, capitalistic driven right winger that loves the "oh yeah, well how 'green' is it to be pouring concrete and getting deliveries and stuff" remember GOPunks. it's the trickle down effect, remember,.. it's how we're gonna turn this thing around. Good old fashioned American capitalism. Name another business of it's kind that 1/2 their shoppers bring their own bags and/or recycle their already used bags. or one that uses ample supplies made from recycled materials. or one that has recycle bins for everything imaginable clearly marked. So yeah maybe GreenLife or any of these places that claim it aren't "Green" but they are not poseurs. and if you patron the place you are not a poseur. & if you like the idea of the "green" ideals you are also not a poseur. if you hate on this b/c your party line thinks it's stupid. You're not only a pompous asshole,... you are indeed the POSEUR

Bryan buddy, please review standard grammar and realize that beginning a sentence with "&" makes you look dumber than dirt. I'm hoping that you were just drunk when you wrote the screed above, usually you are somewhat more coherent.

Country folk were green before green was cool. Growing their own food, canning it for later use, never throwing anything away that had any scrap of usefulness left in it...
Nothing like anyone I saw in my brief visit.

what? you're not going to point out my lack of capitalization? any other punctuation problems you want to call out?
when you don't want to agree with someone just blast them on their grammar. it's common practice on a message board.

"They own a jet to COMMUTE to their ranch out west. "
How "Greenlife" is that?
Montana license plates?
Thats a new one.... Id guess for tax reasons. or maybe for Hamilton County EMISSIONS testing reasons?
How legal is it to live and work in Hamilton County and to continue to drive a vehicle registered in Montana?
Bryan Stone: I am not anti-'green', I am anti-stupid people. Stupid people who think that if it costs more it must be better. Re-read my post. I was not the person who posted " vast crowd of trust-fund-hippies, posers, and trendy types, none of which can I really stand all that much.."

Is that why he has Montana license plates on his car? The Pruitts are very good people. Yes to the plates, and yes to the good people. Where's Rhonda? Any Pruett's at Normal Park? laughing "Chuck Pruett and his family who live here, eat here, send their children to schools here, buy their cars here, attend our local sporting events, etc.?" chattanooga680.com/?p=34Why the Montana plates? I live in the city of Chattanooga and the state of Tennessee. I pay sales tax when purchasing a vehicle and registering it in the city of Chattanooga and to the state. How many days are you allowed to drive around on out of state tags before you are required to locally register? It is a criminal offense.

The Montana plates are from Chuck's parents. They (the parents) have a house out in Montana, and spend a lot of time there.

Having never shopped at either store, I know nothing about the subject. Unlike others in similar situations, I will withhold comment.

Do you forget that where they put the Greenlife shopping center was an industrial wasteland? In this case a parking lot was a lot 'greener'. I was down there Saturday afternoon for Yappy Hour (a lot of fun for people and dogs!) and there was a lot of talk about this. I heard a lot of people happy because they like Whole Foods, and a lot (often the same people) sad that a successful local business was going chain store. I do like to support local businesses, so for that reason alone I don't like the change. But then I think it's just an oversized health food store and I rarely feel the need to go there. I'll take fresh locally grown produce over processed health food or yuppie-hippy priced 'organic' veggies from elsewhere any day! It also supports our local economy.

fftspam: I wasn't referring to one single post
It was built up frustation towards the "green" bashing that's been going on for a while.
the "oh yeah, well how green is it to,.." guy the "nothing but a bunch of trust fund babies & posuers" guy the "but they fly in a plane and drive a big car" guy
again I didn't write in complete sentences. hope that's OK for everybody

I was the "trust fund hippie" guy, and my bashing wasn't bashing green, it was bashing those who like to play at it, but fold the moment it becomes inconvenient for them.
