Move way out past their strategic growth plan areas or you'll get annexed in before you pull the sold sign out of the yard.

As long as Littlefield's political cronies have six-figure jobs that I'm paying for, (Missy Crutchfield, etc) he will have a hard time selling me on any budget crisis.

There are lots of empty businesses on the 'strip'. Maybe you could get one re-zoned for residential and have really BIG 'house' for low taxes.

We've got them cornered - Chattanooga should annex Red Bank After hearing this I was trying to find out - whatever happened to Littlefield's proposed increases to tickets, fees, and fines? Did that fall through and this is Plan B? I hope he's not getting ALL the tax increases he wants.

Three cheers for Red Bank. I cannot believe I had the great luck to decide to buy here.

It's really not a bad place... as much as Yoda and I tease about it, you'll notice that we stay there.

No Tax Increase Budget For East Ridge Includes Raises by Dennis Norwood posted May 20, 2010 East Ridge City Manager William Whitson on Thursday night made a budget proposal which calls for no new property taxes, yet would grant two percent salary increases to city employees and continue last year’s pay adjustments for East Ridge police officers. The budget would not give either Mr. Whitson or his executive secretary a raise. Other items touched by the budget include health insurance, capital purchases, neighborhood investment programs and an upgraded stormwater program. While last year’s actual budget stood at $16,812,826, the proposed 2011 budget was recommended for $13,893,413 – a reduction of $2.9 million. This also leaves the current East Ridge property tax of $1.1227 intact. Read more: chattanoogan I find it amazing that other cities can not only maintain services, but increase number of police officers, give them a raise, but the City of Chattanooga cannot even maintain the abysmal status quo without a tax increase. And Mayor Littlefield cannot figure out why people are fleeing the Chattanooga City Limits and fighting annexation.

There should be a split land value/improvement tax.
Land value should be taxed through the roof and the cost of improvements should be subtracted from the land value and taxed at a low rate. This would clean up the city REAL QUICK.
Anyways, crank up the property taxes because there's too much real estate speculation in Chattanooga.
Property owners should either figure out how to make money from their building, or be occupying it themselves, or be taxed to death.
