That was funny!
Honestly, I think I have one of those 'altered childhood memories' of Bea's. I have a now faint memory of going to a restaurant that was a little bit dark inside with big red vinyl upholstered, round booths. The booths would seat 8 people and if you didn't have a party of 8, they would seat you with other guests. It had an all you can eat Lazy Susan in the middle with two layers. Meat and veggies on the bottom, breads on the top. The 'country style' food was amazing. In my mind, that place was Bea's. I now know that it was not. In fact, no one in my family can remember ever taking me to such a place. Sadly, that memory - like a vivid dream - is stuck in my memory banks like a real event.

Scarlett, It may be a suppressed memory. You left out the part about the guy with the grimy hands sticking his used spoon in the mashed potatoes as they rolled by
