When I download images off my photo card from my camera, they are saved as image.JPG. This makes problems when I upload them to my server and try to reference them in lower case.
I can change each one individually in the file, but I can't seem to find a setting on my camera (or photo progam) that will do that in bulk.
Why do cameras do this?
Is there a way to bulk change the case for type of image?

Why not do what I do? When I enter the link, I use the uppercase JPG. Problem solved.
(Or, download ACDSee and use its batch rename feature. Added benefit is you can make it DCS0001.JPG, DCS0002.JPg, etc. rename to NottaParty04-17-2007_001.jpg, NottaParty04-17-2007_002.jpg etc, really easily.)
Oh, it will autoresize and color correct, too.

Your camera might do it, whats the brand/model?
There are a bunch of batch rename programs, many free.
also I use filezilla to upload files and it will automatically convert all names to lower case.

Just highlight them all and right click to rename all at once.

I'll bet you don't even use CTRL-INS and SHIFT-INS (or CTL-V and CTRL-C)

Yup (command), and it worked consistently - or failed consistently - but at least it was consistent.

6 character max comma(n)d names... Sounds like you started out on CP/M or perhaps even earlier with VMS.

My first home computer was a Compaq Luggable with DOS 3.x. Used it to dial in to work at a speedy 2400 baud up from the original 300 baud line speed
