This is copied from the "favorite" thread. Hoping to get some votes for our guy...

(I apologize for the length, but it's worth it.
From an e-mail.)
Hey radio and TV friends...I hope you'll vote for Luther Masingill for the National Radio Hall of Fame, and do whatever you can to spread the word nationwide.
It only takes a couple of minutes.
Luther Masingill is the longest running act in the history of broadcasting. In the world.
He has been the morning guy at WDEF AM-FM in Chattanooga since 1941.
He started at age 19, he's still there broadcasting every morning at age 88. Same time, same station.
He broadcast the first reports of the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941, as well as the attack on the World Trade Center in 2001.
He has been ranked number one in the market for most of his career.
Is known for his community service, finding lost dogs, helping burned out families.
Has also been on local TV each day since 1954. Still on at noon each day.
Did not call in sick from 1947 to 2001. Not once.
He is on the ballot for the National Radio Hall of Fame in the "active" category, but he is an underdog, because as usual, he is up against folks from large markets: Chicago, NYC, and San Francisco.
He is at a decided disadvantage, and this has happened before in the same category.
Decades ago, Luther received job offers from all those markets and more.
He chose to stay in a "medium market" because it is his hometown, and his family is here. One should not be penalized for declining to go "big market."
I have asked the HOF to create a special category to "even the playing field," and they have not done so.
My point is, if excellence in the field for almost 70 years does not guarantee admittance to the Radio Hall of Fame...well you get the idea.
As you might imagine, Luther is certainly not campaigning for this.
But I think he should be honored and recognized WHILE HE IS ALIVE AND STILL ON THE AIR!
Here is the link to the HOF ballot. Free registration, easy sign-up and vote. It will take only a few minutes.

Please vote for Luther, and ask your friends to do the same.
And if you have any ideas on how to spread this nationally, let's do it!
thanks,
David
