A day in the life of a Chattanoogan. I call the County Clerk's office yesterday morning about making a minor car title change. I asked what I needed to bring, how long it would take, and other little details. They said they weren't busy, it would be 15 minutes at the most.
So...I park a block away from the Courthouse. The meter has 9 minutes left on it. I have a little spare change, so I boosted it to 33 minutes. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Not so much.
Got into the courthouse fine...no security lines, and no line in the Clerk's office. I go right up to the window. That's where the fun begins. New employee/trainee is on duty. Experienced employee to her right not in a particularly helpful mood. Delays, questions, "gotta do that over."
Then the printer malfunctions. "Hmmm...not sure why it's acting up like this."
Long story short: the process took about 35 minutes. Did I get a ticket? Of course. Saw it being applied to the windshield from a block away.
I love this town.

If your property taxes would go up another $1.00, we wouldn't need to ever write parking tickets...the City could provide free parking on any lot it owns.

You know, the reason for the meters is also so someone else might get a chance to park. Make it free and some people would never leave.

I really don't have much of a beef with the parking meters. I gambled that it wouldn't take long to take care of a minor issue, and I lost.
I do have a problem with incompetence, but I don't think that's going away any time soon.

You should call attorney Robin Flores. He will get you $1 Mil in damages, at least. But you might have to wait, I think he has enough cases against the city to take him until 2028.

Going back to an earlier thread, I do believe handicapped people should not have to pay meters. They would need to get out, get the chair or whatever out, find an accessible ramp to get to the sidewalk. How much would that cost the city?

If I'm not mistaken, handicapped people DON'T have to pay at the meters.

handicapped (legal) vehicles don't pay to park at any state/city owned/managed place. That includes meters.
But does NOT include riverbend where you have to pay the jackass at the Hunter $10 period no exceptions.
I'm not sure the OP actually cares if handicap cars pay to park.
