We really enjoyed them. Do you get to work with them much?

I saw these little fellows down in Atl. a few months back and what really stood out IS how fast they are!!

No. I’ve not been able to get inside the exhibit since the birds arrived.
Husbandry is very protective of it and I can understand their point. Penguins will eat just about anything. Those that do go in have to be extremely careful. No jewelry, badges, barrettes, etc. Basically anything that can fall off of one’s person is not allowed.
I’m hoping that once everything settles down and I see the penguin lady, maybe I can talk her in to taking me back there. Trust me, if that happens I’m sure y’all will hear about it ;D
They ARE (or at least they were) looking for volunteers to work in that exhibit. Feeding and doing shows. I’d love to do that, but the diving thing is all I can handle time-wise.
If anyone else is interested, here’s the contact #: 423-785-3057. A couple of requirements that you’ll need is to lift at least 50 lbs and be able to bend and climb around.

Do they have more space than what you see by looking from the spectators standpoint?

Not really, Janet. There are some caverns under the rock that they can swim in, but what we see is pretty much it. There are places in the back that the animals can be quarantined though.
I have a couple of the construction pics that I can post for you this evening. I’ve been putting off mowing the lawn all day so I must go now.

Thom Benson got me in for a sneak peek the day before it opened to the public. It's the first truly multi-media page I've put in my online newspaper. This is the kind of stuff I've been wanting to do. Text, photos, audio, video and live web-cam, all in one spot. www.clevelandnewsnow.net/HTML/2007MAY02_Penguins.html

I like the penguin cam too! You did a good job on that article, Shooter. Here's those construction pics that I told Janet I'd post - This is during the rock construction: The painter:
