A friend is having a problem with her Mac. Apparently when she tries to boot it up it gives a beeping noise she'd never heard before and she gets a message saying "need to restart." She can't get beyond that point.
Anyone know what might be wrong or if there's a mac store in town she can go to find help from?

There are several MAC stores around, I only know of the one on gunbarrel. Did she power it completely down including unplug and/or taking the battery out for a few minutes?
That can "fix" a lot of things.

Apple store: You don't expect us to service this, do you? If it's broken, just buy a new one.

Bob, just left her a message (she's probably torturing some poor soul right now and couldn't get to the phone) just now with your suggestion as well as theuplinker's recommendation for a place to go for help.

the billiards club is not near the mall. There is an apple store at the mall but I don't know if they "do" service.

Mac Authority at Hamilton Place: Chattanooga: 423.710.1581 Computer plus: * 1906 Gunbarrel Road, Suite B * (Next to Fedex) * Chattanooga, TN 37421 * Ph: 423.893.5005
Most importantly what kind of Mac. Resetting may be as simple as using a paper clip in the proper place while rebooting.

She took it in for service already, so I guess we don't get to try the paper clip.
Thanks y'all!
