Our green curbside trash receptacle on wheels that is furnished to city residents is somewhat the worse for wear after several years of use, so my husband called 311 the other day to ask for a replacement. Having grown up in Atlanta, where such an item is known as a "Herbie Curbie," he proceeded to tell the woman, "My Herbie has a crack in it."
She, apparently, had never heard it referred to this way and was on the verge of taking major offense when he described it to her and was informed that it's a "trash receptacle." Well, duh, of course it is, but there has to be a catchier name for it.
In the UK they call them wheelie-bins.
Do you have a name for yours?
We'll understand if you don't want to admit that there's a crack in it...

Don't say it too loud or our local government will hire a team of experts to spend six months making up a name so stupid nobody will use it.

Considering that mine doesn't really 'fit' down that space between my car and the neighbor's rock wall... what I call mine is not very 'lady like' to print.

I call it "that damn thing I have to drag to the street every Wednesday." I can see where something shorter might be an advantage.

So sad that you must some day sully it by inserting trash.

I think it's like adoption. Once you choose one, it's for life! If you get a good one, that's great!

Someone stole my can from Culver Street. I think they used it as a wheel barrel to take my air conditioner.
