While I was working in Chattanooga this past summer I got involved with the Main Street Bike Co-op. I found it to be very rewarding and fun. The bike co-op gives kids an opportunity to do a little work in exchange for a bicycle and the knowledge of how to maintain and repair it. Every kid needs a bike but, more importantly, every kid needs to learn skills that they can be proud of and use throughout the rest of their lives. Bike co-ops make this possible for a lot of kids who have no other way to acquire any of it. It also gives the child a mentor that he or she can look up to. Now I'm back in Lawrenceville and I've located a bike co-op fairly close to do some volunteer work with. Communicycle is in Chamblee and they have applied for a Pepsi Refresh grant. With your help they can receive a $50k grant to help them with their mission. Please go to pep.si/gti51D and vote. You can do this once a day.

You have ten votes per day to use. Yesterday I rebuilt a couple of children's bikes and we had three adults stop by for help with their bikes that were their only method of transportation.
