On Jeff Styles show, they are saying that Max Hackett has died. They have few details yet. I never heard him in his prime, but Jeff just said when Max Hackett was really on his game, he was better than any other talk host locally, including Jeff.

The found him croaked in his apartment this AM when he didn't show up for work. Last I heard the cause of death was natural causes. RIP

First Parker, now Max Hackett.
I used to listen to him when he took over on one of the occasions after Parker had been fired. He usually played the Beatles as lead in music, and I liked that.

Shooter has been pretty torn up about it. I feel sad on so many levels.

Sad. I disagreed with him on several issues, but he was one the rare people that could state his side of the argument and not hold it against the person arguing with him.

From the LE family who lost one of our own over the Holidays to the radio community and the Pulse family, sincere condolences on the loss of an iconic figure in Chattanooga radio.

When Max first came to the show, was right after Denise left it and I wasn't in a good place and probably didn't give him much of a chance. New radio co-hosts are like arranged marriages. You're not expected to like each other, but you'd better not let the listeners know. But after a few months, I realized that Max knew what he was doing. I also knew about his past, but kept an open mind. During our time working together, he showed that he was professional and worked hard even though I know he was going through something very painful in his personal life. He wasn't at all the "old" Max that so many people had warned me of. I liked him and thought he was doing a great job. After a bumpy start, he was at work every day, even when he was sick. His last day at work was December 30th. He was coughing very badly. I told him he shouldn't even be at work, and he said "I promised myself I wouldn't call in unless I was in the hospital." I told him he should go see a doctor after work and he promised he would. After the show, I told him to go to the doc and "I'll see you Monday." I didn't. I consider myself lucky that I got to meet and work with Max. I hope he is finally at peace. He was a funny, intelligent, articulate man and I will miss him.
