Outdoor Chattanooga Calls for Volunteers
Volunteer Appreciation and Orientation Fair Feb. 19, 12 noon to 4 p.m.
Chattanooga, TN - Outdoor Chattanooga is seeking volunteers who are willing to help support the City of Chattanooga division for an event filled 2011.
Outdoor enthusiasts interested in volunteering for special events, programs, and as outdoor ambassadors should come by the Outdoor Chattanooga building located at 200 River St. in Coolidge Park on Sat., Feb. 19,, between 12 noon and 4 p.m. to meet staff, other volunteers and to learn about the organization.
The volunteer fair will offer attendees a first glimpse at planned activities for 2011 and the opportunity to sign up for specific projects and training classes. In addition to offering free and low-cost outdoor programs to the public, Outdoor Chattanooga hosts and supports several large events each year, including the Outdoor Expo and Gear Swap, Rapid Learning’s Splash into Spring, the Chattanooga Waterfront Triathlon, River Rocks and the Head of the Hooch Rowing Regatta.
Skilled and knowledgeable Outdoor Chattanooga volunteers help with everything from public programs and event set up to helping guide visitors to outdoor recreation opportunities at the department’s Coolidge Park building.
“During the warmer months our offices see a steady stream of visitors looking for outdoor activity suggestions,” says Outdoor Chattanooga Executive Director Philip Grymes. “Having knowledgeable and friendly volunteers on hand is vital to our mission of encouraging people to explore and appreciate the natural beauty of our region.”
Outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and abilities are encouraged to attend the orientation and appreciation fair. To learn more, call Outdoor Chattanooga at (423) 643-6888.
