People on the West Coast and those in Colorado, Minnesota and parts of the Northeast are most likely to be active in their free time.
Isn't it strange that people from the most liberal areas of the country are the most likely to take care of themselves, while down here in the deep red south, the very same people that say they "don't want government in their Medicaid", are the ones most likely to fall back on government care.
No, I don't think it's the humidity, but it rhymes with humidity.

nice spin...
I'd like to see this survey broken down into classes. I'd guess that poorer people tend to exercise less (aka - are lazier) than those that make more $... Break it down to income levels... The deep south we live in is a lot poorer than the rest of the country... maybe there's a correlation there??

Hell just look at the amount of people on welfare and the kids they have they can't afford to buy them a damn school lunch. Tennessee wins by a landslide...GO BIG "lazyasses" Orange!!

Poor people also tend to do the most manual labor, and the more well off tend to go to the gym to get their exercise. Kind of a wash, I think.

So, the folks in those "commie pinko cigarette liberal" states tend to be wealthier and hence use a gym more?

That wouldn't account for New Mexico or South Texas, with much lower incomes.

Perhaps race is an indicator.

Perhaps race is an indicator. How so? White people are less likely to exercise, perhaps?

blackfox - after looking at printemps map, CA may very liberal, but only b/c of the big cities. There's still plenty of counties in the rest of the state that vote Republican... so that doesn't jive with your spin... Check out the comparison... Not seein' it... compare to...

Land doesn't vote; people do.

It's by county... and the "lazy" map appears to be too...

"Plenty of counties" with few people in them. The geographic S-I-Z-E of CA counties hardly matters in this discussion. You picked the 2004 election map over 2008:

If you work hard all day, chances are you aren't going to need "activity" to unwind. Active all day needs rest. Sitting at a desk all day needs activity. Hunting, fishing and 4-wheeling may not fit the parameters of "exercise" in the survey....or weren't even included. Remember the discussion on skewed polls.....?

Looking at that 2008 presidential election map gives me great comfort knowing that there's no way Obama can be elected.
Oh, wait.

Property doesn't equal population, but if birth control options are harder to come by it may, eventually.
