Hi All,
I haven't posted much on here, but thought this would be a good place to ask about this issue.
I live in the Daisy area of Soddy Daisy. I had this young adult female knock on my door this evening claiming that she was selling magazines as part of a "fundraiser" to earn money for college.
It took her 2-3 minutes of rambling before I finally point blank asked her what she was selling... then she pulled out this wrinkled brochure from her jacket pocket and said something about how she could earn up to $2000 dollars for college by selling magazines.
It was about 7:30PM and I just got home from work/ into my pajamas...had just started to eat some dinner. She could tell I was a little irritated and told her I wasn’t interested. I didn’t bother to get the name of the company who she’s “fundraising” for, but this sounds like a scam to me. I’ve read stories of how these companies drop off van loads of young people to canvas neighborhoods with these kinds of sales pitches.
Has anyone else had someone come to their door recently with a similar story?

There are a lot of magazine fund raisers but they want you to write your address down and pick how many magazines. They don't collect money the magazine distributer does.

There have been several suspicious activity complaints on similar activity in this area. All vendors were found and were properly licensed, but that doesn't mean they are legit, just that they bought a business license.
I would recommend that if one wants a magazine subscription, get it directly from the magazine.
