There was nothing wrong with the paper ballot Tennessee was using ten years ago. In fact, that was probably the most secure and easiest to understand ballot that has been designed in this nations entire history. It was marked with a pen, could be read by an optical scanner directly into a database and provided the paper trail that is being demanded. This was not the punched card system that became infamous in Florida during the '00 election. It was much more user friendly than the touch screen systems now being used. That being said, I have a credibility problem with any politician throwing partisanship into a critique of a bill.

There needs to be a physical trail of all votes along with computer counts at polls. Without them there is no way to verify the accuracy of the voting. This needs to be done along with all ballot boxes need to be tracked so there is no problem with them being "found" later.

How in the hell do you expect democrats to ever win a tight election again if they cannot find and lose ballot boxes as needed.

Mikey, I keep trying to see you as a man of deep thoughts. Unfortunately the post above seems to be written by someone who is dumber than dirt. If you think Democrats are the only party who may have, in some way, attempted to manipulate an election, you are flat out blind to the real world.

(From an e-mail)
"On Thursday [05/12/2011?] the Senate also passed House Bill 386, a bill that removes the requirements for counties to use more secure voting machines with a verifiable paper trail. Senator Roy Herron, who has been vocal in his opposition to this measure, said that “the state should invest in the integrity of our ballot box and making sure our votes count through a verifiable paper trail.”
