Pratt Home Builders made a pledge in early May to help those impacted by disaster in the Chattanooga Area by donating $1,000 to the local Chapter of the Red Cross for each new home ordered from May16 through July 31, 2012. A check in the amount of $12,000 will be presented to Greater Chattanooga Area American Red Cross CEO, Barbara Alexander on Wednesday, August 24 at 9AM at Pratt + Associates offices, 179 Hamm Road, Chattanooga, TN.
Pratt developed the RE-BUILD assistance program to raise funds to benefit those impacted by the April 27, 2011 tornadoes. In addition to the Red Cross donation, the company offered discounted pricing on insurance claim builds for tornado victims, provided exceptionally fast turnaround on pricing, hosted new construction seminars and offered enhanced construction time frames.
According to Winn Pratt, president of Pratt Homes, "Our hearts went out to the thousands of families that suffered from the terrible destruction caused by the tornadoes that hit our area. We wanted to do something to help and immediately thought of donating to the Red Cross. In addition we wanted to make it easier for those needing a new place to call home. We are proud to make this presentation and be part of the recovery effort."
During the tornado response, 886 Red Cross volunteers were deployed in the aftermath of the destruction. Volunteers canvased some 2,000 homes damaged by the storms, helped serve 46,000 meals and provided shelter, medical and mental health assistance. "In true Red Cross style, our volunteers and staff reacted immediately to the needs of those on the ground and did not worry about where the funding for the relief effort would come from. The generosity of this community and of companies like Pratt + Associates is inspiring. We not only helped with immediate disaster response but are now able to replenish our supplies, recruit and train disaster volunteers and secure the assets needed to be able to respond when the next disaster strikes," noted Barbara Alexander, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Chattanooga Area American Red Cross.
