I just installed UBUNTU Studio on a netbook.
it found all my hardware except the wifi and that took downloading a driver (I didn't have to look for the driver, just promise I wouldn't change it before the installer downloaded it)
Set up a VPN connection, downloaded a RemoteDesktop viewer (I like it better than the windows version) and its done.
They've come a long way since "X" [grin]
