With the unveiling of an upgraded natural gas turbine that will be made in Chattanooga, Alstom officials said Thursday that the company is expanding its product portfolio and providing jobs to the area. “Today we are over 200 staff and this is perfectly in line with the ramp-up of this organization,” Lawrence Quinn, CEO of the Chattanooga facility, said. “It’s a phased approach. As we get the capability to manufacture more, we then hire and train the people — hopefully from Chattanooga, but they are coming from the United States.” The company has already spent $10 million to train the staff and the launch of this new product means Alstom will continue to hire at least 150 more people as needed, Quinn said. Nooga Story************ Great news for Chattanooga! Makes me wonder what those positions are for....

I'm guessing most of those openings will go to machinist but there should also be openings for CADD operators, engineers and file clerks.
