Amazon looks ready to open its payroll to Hamilton and Bradley county workers.Amazon.com offers jobs to 1,500 in Chattanooga and Bradley County
Internet retailer Amazon, fast-tracking the ramp-up of new distribution centers in Hamilton and Bradley counties, has offered jobs to about 1,500 people so far.
Local officials say the hiring effort is one of the quickest undertaken by a company doing business here. Amazon began taking applications for the bulk of its work force in mid-May.

The article says most of the jobs pay over $10/hr. I realize that could mean most of the jobs pay $10.75/hr but there are benefits to the full time workers and that makes me tend to believe the jobs will pay a reasonable rate for the skills required for the job. The controversy comes in with their deal to continue to not charge sales tax on purchases made in Tennessee. California has come to an agreement with Amazon that they will collect CA sales tax on sales within CA. Hopefully Tennessee will reach the same type of arrangement.
