NEW YORK – Bank of America has added a host of new charges – including The Walking Fee, The Talking Fee and The Looking Fee. Bank of America, like all U.S. banks, have been struggling lately. They are hesitant to lend money to Americans because “they just all blow their money on stupid things like houses, cars and food” and they aren’t turning a profit because interest rates are low and the global markets are bad. What can one of the biggest banks in the world do? Charge their customers more!!! BANK OF AMERICA ADDS HOST OF NEW FEES************************************************* A part the the fee increase is due to the new federal regulations about the max fees that can be charged.

Use cash instead of debit cards. Simple.

Don't understand why BofA is getting all the publicity.
I got my letter last week from SunTrust saying, "...due to changes in the industry..." they were going to, among other things, start charging $5 to use the debit card unless you keep a ginormous balance.
The "changes", of course, are the result of laws capping the amount the Bank can charge businesses to accept the card. Can't turn the screws any tighter on business, so let's screw the customer. "If we all agree to do it (we used to call this 'collusion') the poor saps can't take their banking business elsewhere." I expect to see this notation on the bottom of my next bank statement: "ROFLOAO".
Yoda: your wife allows you to have cash? Wow.

I think BofA is getting all the attention is that they are the largest and they took bailout money.
I have set up my new bank USAA they even give up to $30 a month back in ATM fees.

This is a great reason not to do business with the banks that do this.
I highly recommend Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union.

Yep. The "progressives" are pretty much putting the screws to BoA. And I don't say that because I like them; I don't. But they were forced by the Fed to absorb all sorts of bad investments, and the government wants to prevent them from recouping the costs.
Used to be that people paid banks to take care of their money, and that was offset by the banks making wise investments on behalf of their investors (those with accounts). After the FDIC, the banks no longer had an incentive to make wise investments; they would be bailed out by the government for any bad investments. Add to that, the bad investments the government forced them to make...
We're all paying for it now.

I am currently evaluating the small bank options I have and how their online services compare with what I'm getting from my megabank. Right now the $5/mo fee I'll be paying to use the check card is worth the convenience to me. If I find a local bank that gets close to offering the same service I'll move my accounts.
