Congrats......
Looks like we may have an excuse for, what we call in this group, a Notta Party to welcome you.

Yay!! A notta party to welcome a new friend. Too bad the Stone Lion's gone. However, that might have been a little scary! How about that new German restaurant?! (kidding)

I 3rd the motion for a party and the VFW sounds like a great place. Woo Hoo lets party like it is 2099.

Good idea! That was a good notta party! Pretty centrally located and maybe a river view from the parking lot.

Definitely not the pseudo-German joint; with it's "Fressen" that would be insulting. VFW might be a fine venue, but...er, Foreign War? That would include....you know. Given the Kindern, the venue should be family friendly (unless Nicole would accept a baby-sitter recommendation). Alternately, if some one has the space, or a clubhouse, we could pot-luck a party.

VFW was a nice place but our contact is no longer associated with them.

I haven't been to the Honest Pint, but I hear it's good.

I haven't been to the Honest Pint, but I hear it's good. Main room is smoke filled, but very pretty. Live music. Nonsmoking room like a high-school detention room. Good list of beers. Food ok, but had hair in two dishes when we went, and an unresponsive, unapologetic staff. Hair of the Dog? Pubs are Us?

The Honest Pint is a fine place. The food is rather good, if not unexpected at times (like the nachos that are akin to a rueben). I think they save the hair for ssmynkint, I eat there often and have never had a problem or bad service. The non-smoking room lacks atmosphere, but has better air.
Hair of the Dog is good (same owners) but the only non-smoking section is outside on the deck. This may not be the best season for an evening outside.

Yep, I'd rather a venue that doesn't leave me choking from unaccustomed cigarette smoke. I'll get enough of that visiting my Momma for Turkey Day.
How about we start with this question. Does anyone have connections that could score us a meeting hall or location? We've done fine with pot-luck in the past, food service for our crowd is always difficult at best on servers. If no meeting hall is available, then let's look at large venue eateries with lots of interior space where we could take over a section. We also tend to the rowdy and mobile and would NOT make any restaurant happy if mingling with the regular guests.

Just an idea, what about one of the huge Chinese buffet places? The one on Lee Hwy sells beer, not sure about the one in the old Ryans.

That's great~ full service bar, wonderful food! We've had fun there, too, in the past! Isn't the manager or owner a member here?

Plus, they have that meeting room!Food Works is good, but a little pricey. There's champy's , but the menues is limited. If it's pretty, North Chatt Cat would be fun! There is the deck overlooking the river.

How about The Terminal? Non-smoking and I'm pretty sure the 3rd floor is open for such events. Great beer, decent food.
