Where do people advertise their "free to a good home" puppies and kittens these days?
Still in the Sunday paper? One of several locations online?
Seems pre-internet explosion it was pretty simple.

That's the problem. I don't think that's where they all go. Seems largely pit bulls and scammers. I doubt that the "spay and neuter" campaigns have been so successful that there aren't more puppies out there than a bunch of pits, pit mixes and dogs for sale.

and, I don't have anything against pits as a breed, but I have to avoid the so-called "dangerous breeds" due to the insurance issue now I've had one dog bite claim against me.

The Labador and Boxer pups I pointed to have not made the "dangerous breeds" list yet. And yes, you will see a lot of Pit Bulls and scammers on Craig's List but that's what happens when something is free. Use the search feature at the top of the listings to narrow down your search. Are there other places that people advertise? I'm sure there are but I've been out of Chattanooga too long to know what the current equivalent of the Shopper's Guide is.

That's what I'm looking for. Where else people advertise.
I'm thinking a puppy is in my future. Sometime in December or January. Should aim for AFTER the cruise:-D

Hmmm, some possibilities in there.
Anyone else got some ideas?

Advertise in your local paper. Never trust Craig's List. Craig's List is worse than porn. Please use the local paper.

Pet Smart used to give away cats and dogs for the cost of spay\neuter on weekends. Might check with them to see if they still do that

I've successfully used Craig's List to buy/sell cars, motorcycles, furniture, collectibles, building materials... probably other stuff too. Don't know why they wouldn't be reliable for pets. However, because of anonymity, be armed. Oh, wait, you are!

Check the shelters. That's where the majority of our animals came from. Puppies are a priority. If you want a good, mature dog, it's ideal. That's where Lucy came from. She was days away from being put down. Trained black lab. Get a grown dog and a puppy! They keep each other company!
