Does anyone know about the company Fairbanks Ward? We found some dinnerware with their stamp and want to know about the company. When it was founded and where. I tried a google search and only found information on where to get replacements to the dinnerware, nothing for the company itself.

It seems Fairbanks Ward Industries was a reseller. They bought all sorts of items from various manufacturers and put their brand on it to sell through various department stores and in catalogs. Fairbanks Ward was a subsidiary of Argus, the camera company, up until about 1963 when the company was sold to Alldec Corporation.
That information was pieced together from dozens of sources or I would reference it to you.

Just like Mainstays at Walmart. Many companies make the items and Walmart just puts their brand on them.

I just thought of a resource. Felix may know something about them. He has an interest and some knowledge of regional department stores like Fairbanks Ward appear to have catered to.

Thanks Justin! It was a little maddening. Found some pieces and got curious about the maker, so I go online and... there wasn't even a wiki entry on them. You know how it gets under the skin to go looking for some information on something and find a massive hole like that? Just frustrating.
I feel satisfied now.

For info like that, dinnerware, flatware, or such, you could find a dealer at a flea market and find out all you need to know.
