The Hamilton County Election Commission, in a 3-2 vote Thursday morning, ruled that petitioners seeking the recall of Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield did, in fact, surpass the minimum number of certified petitions. As such, the commission has set a recall election date for August of next year. Candidates for the position will be able to pick up qualifying papers on January 6, and have until April 5 to turn them in. However, it is highly expected that attorneys for Mayor Littlefield will immediately file suit, challenging the legality of the submitted petitions.
