Free Public Demonstrations Scheduled for Bike Chattanooga Bicycle Transit System
Chattanooga, TN – The public is invited to learn about the City of Chattanooga’s upcoming Bike Chattanooga Bicycle Transit System at four, free demonstrations, to be held Dec. 10 through 17.
Staff and volunteers from Alta Bicycle Share and Outdoor Chattanooga will teach attendees how the Bike Chattanooga system will work when it launches in spring, 2012. The public will be able to learn how to register and check out bicycles, membership options, and how to safely use the bikes.
Demo stations are located at 1400 Market St., in front of the Choo-Choo Hotel and at corner of 1st St. and Walnut St. on the south end of the Walnut St. Bridge. The demo units will serve as outreach facilities for the public until the full 30 station, 300 bicycle system is operational in the spring.
The public demo schedule is:
Sat., Dec. 10, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Walnut St. Bridge at 1st St.
Wed., Dec. 14, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Walnut St. Bridge at 1st St.
Thurs., Dec. 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Market St. at the Choo-Choo Hotel
Sat., Dec. 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Market St. at the Choo-Choo Hotel
In addition to the public offerings, Bike Chattanooga can schedule demo’s for any group or organization that has interest in using the bike share. To schedule a demo, call Jeremy Pomp, Bike Chattanooga general manager at (423) 521-1642.
Bike Chattanooga is offering an introductory yearly membership rate of $60 for anyone who signs up before the spring, 2012 launch date. Specially discounted corporate memberships are also available. The public can register or learn more on the Bike Chattanooga Website at www.bikechattanooga.com.
The City of Chattanooga’s Bike Chattanooga Bicycle Transit System will offer a convenient and healthy way for residents and visitors to travel around downtown Chattanooga. Managed by Alta Bicycle Share, the membership driven system will feature 30 stations and 300 bicycles, available to members 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Regular membership will cost $75 per year or $6 for 24 hours. Members will be able to take an unlimited rides of one hour or less within any membership period at no additional charge.
