Attorney Arnold Stulce, who represents range Ronnie Dodd, owner of a controversial shooting range in Sale Creek, told the Hamilton County Commission this morning that if the commission and the Zoning Appeals Board attempted to reconsider their original approval of the range, that he would initiate legal action against the county. At issue is whether or not the appeals board had all the information about what Dodd had intended to do with the Sale Creek property. Comissioner Fred Skillern feels that they did not, while Stulce maintains that all the information was presented properly. County Attorney Rheubin Taylor told the commissioner that there is no precedent on reconsidering zoning appeals once they are approved, and agreed that the county could indeed be opening itself up to legal action if they retroactively denied the zoning for the range. chattanoogapulse.com/newsfeatures/breaking-news/continued-debate-about-sale-creek-shooting-range/

I guess it's up to the adjacent property owners who are finding shrapnel from the range on their property to attempt to get a restraining order.

finding shrapnel on ones property does not convince me that the range is dangerous. Now, if they can prove to me with science then, I'll re-think my opinions on this subject.

From my understanding range personnel have told adjoining property owners to stay away from the boundaries during certain events. Evidently the range personnel felt that there was a danger to people who might be on property not owned by the range or they wouldn't have told them to stay off their own property. If this is the case then the property owners are the ones who should be protesting the continued use of the range on grounds of safety.
ETA: If nothing else the shrapnel is evidence of littering, similar to a neighbor dumping beer cans over the fence. I think it is entirely reasonable for the range's neighbors to request that the littering cease.

I'm sorry. Did the property owners not know there was a shooting range there? ? Its my understanding that, maybe, they should have thought twice. Quit your bitching. There is a right to shoot. Maybe some day, when a robber breaks in your house, that you might wish one of those shooters was their to protect you.l

The property owners lived there before Dodd moved in and built his range. He was less than truthful about the intended use of the range. He stated on the application it would be "low impact" WTF that means but he stated the range would be for instructional use.He now has 2 matches a month there and had also planned a major IDPA Regional match that he cancelled because of the ruckus.Bullet fragments that splatter from steel targets have been found on the adjacent property as well.He had a chance to buy some property just down the road from Cleveland Rifle Club that would have been a far better choice IMO.

Take a drive up Leggett road and look for his sign. Then you will question why it was allowed?

22s are pop-guns and easily ignored. Now that 50... That would have gotten the neighbors attention! If I find one of those shooters is in my house with a gun then they are the robber.

Its my understanding that the shooting range at Montlake was in operation several years before any houses were built in the area. It was only after the new owners bought the range that people started to complain. I have shot there. If the neighbors don't like it - tough. They should have thought about that before they bought. You don't buy a house to change everything in the neigborhood.
The range on Hunter Road is still open. I'm not sure about the one in Lafayette, GA. I understand it has been greatly improved, but used for police.

Shouldn't a gaybate go to the gaybate lounge? Is there a reason this wasn't started in the gaybate lounge?
